You may be wondering about why we decided to name our blog "Napoleon's pistol." The name of our blog is a combination Daniel's nickname "Napoleon" and Christina's nickname "pistol." Although we had not intended for the two names to be interrelated to one another, the combination just seem to fit.
When we had first met, Daniel had asked Christina to dance with him at a mutual friend's wedding. Christina had shyly said no at first not knowing if Daniel had any moves. However, Daniel was persistent and wouldn't let her get away that easily. So she decided to dance with him and soon learned that although he had some moves, they weren't exactly all that smooth. Actually, they were quite outrageous and embarrassing. But not for him. He seemed to enjoy dancing so much that he didn't really care what other people thought. So, he soon became her Napoleon for his love of dancing in somewhat bizarre ways.
Soon after that first meeting, we had 4 months of only talking on the phone and doing a long distance relationship where Daniel was in St. Louis and Christina was in southern California. We both really got to know each other without all the distractions of movies and dinners because all we had was conversation. During those conversations, Daniel quickly learned that Christina was like no other woman that he had met before. We had conversations about burning food that we cooked to conversations about our faith. But the one thing that we had conversations about regularly was how to be a Godly example in each others life. In fact, Christina did her homework regarding what a Godly man looks like while Daniel attended dance moves 101. Daniel knew that God had given him a rose of Sharon, a lily among thorns because Christina would always forward him her notes. Thus, Daniel starting calling Christina his "pistol" because although she had some kick in her, she always shoots him straight even to this day.
